Conference 2008
Almost 2000 educators
packed the Koury Convention Center in Greensboro for the 2008
North Carolina Middle School Association Annual Conference.
Here are some photos
from the conference. Maybe you'll see yourself or your co-workers.
Thanks to all of you
for making this another GREAT conference!
High-interest pre-conference
sessions by NC State Teacher of the Year James Bell, Barbara Blackburn, and Ken McEwin got
us off to a great start.
The registration committee welcomed
everyone to "Roundin' Up Good Middle Schools."
Our opening general session packed
the house.
Executive Director John Harrison got
things started...
and lucky attendees won iPod Shuffles,
free registrations, and other great prizes.
Wandra Polk from the Department of
Public Instruction brought greetings
and we met our new Schools to Watch.
Marcia Tate taught us about brain-based
learning...
and we learned!
The exhibit hall was filled with a
hundred booths featuring great products and services... and a
well-attended reception.
Over 160 breakout sessions brought the latest
in strategies and best practices.
Our closing general session and President's
Luncheon featuring Jack Berckemeyer was a perfect end to the conference.
We recognized dozens of award winners
(see the regional web pages for each region's winners) as Teachers
of the Year, Teams of the Year, and Administrators of the Year.
We also recognized Bobby Ashley from
Ashe County Middle School as the 2008 Ken McEwin Award winner.
President Jodie Graham thanked the
crowd for a wonderful conference and invited everyone back in
2009 for "Growing Great Middle Schools."
Thanks for being a part of the North Carolina Middle School Association Conference!
