Middle Level Support Person to Watch Award


Who is eligible to receive the award?

This award may be presented to any full-time middle grades building level support person. Support persons shall be defined as any person working at the building level except classroom teachers and administrators, and includes Counselors, Media Specialists, Discipline/ISS Coordinators, Administrative Assistants, etc.).

 

Who can nominate?

Though nominations will typically come from the Association membership, any individual may nominate someone for this award.

 

What are the criteria?

The award should be presented to a staff member who has demonstrated outstanding performance in the following areas:

1. Contributions to the middle level program in his/her school and system

2. Effectiveness as a member of the support staff

3. Positions of leadership

4. Innovative projects

5. Communication with the educational environment

6. Communication with adolescents

What are the application requirements?

The application consists of the nomination data form including a one page narrative, and two letters of recommendation. The two letters of recommendation must be from a building level administrator and a professional colleague. The letters of recommendation must be postmarked or faxed no later than November 30th to

When will the award be announced?

Winners will be notified by mid-January. One Middle Level Support Person to Watch from each of the three NCMSA regions will be recognized at a general session of the NCMSA Annual Conference.
