Teacher to Watch Award

Who is eligible to receive the award?

This award may be presented to any North Carolina full-time middle level teacher.

 

Who can nominate?

Though nominations will typically come from the Association membership, any individual in the same region may nominate someone for this award.

 

What are the criteria?

The award will be presented to a middle level teacher who has demonstrated outstanding performance in the following areas:

1. Contributions to the middle level program in their school and system

2. Effectiveness as a classroom teacher

3. Positions of leadership

4. Innovative projects

5. Communication with the educational environment

6. Communication with adolescents

 

What are the application requirements?

The application consists of the NOMINATION DATA FORM, ONE PAGE NARRATIVE and TWO LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION. The two letters of recommendation must be from a building level administrator and a professional colleague. Submit a one-page narrative describing the strengths of the teacher and addressing the above criteria. The letters of recommendation must be postmarked or faxed no later than November 30th.

Who will decide the recipient of this award?

The NCMSA Awards Committee will select the recipient from nominations received this year.

 

When will the award be announced?

Winners will be notified by mid-January. One Middle Level Teacher to Watch from each of the three NCMSA regions will be recognized at a general session of the NCMSA Annual Conference. Winners will receive a complementary registration for the state conference.
