Team to Watch Award
Who is eligible to receive
the award?
This award may be presented
to any North Carolina practicing middle level team of teachers.
Who can nominate?
Though nominations will typically come from the
Association membership, any individual in the same region may nominate someone
for this award.
What are the criteria?
The award will be presented
to a team that has demonstrated outstanding performance in the following areas:
1. Building team identity/cohesion
2. Curriculum knowledge and integration
3. Student achievement and success
4. Utilization of a variety of instructional strategies
5. Student recognition
6. Service projects
7. Special team activities
A narrative
should be submitted as part of the nomination form
describing the strengths of the team and addressing the above criteria.
What are the application requirements?
The application
consists of the nomination data form including a narrative
(not to exceed two typed pages written by team members and/or nominator
describing the strengths of the team), and two letters of recommendation.
The two letters of recommendation must be from professional colleagues. The letters of recommendation must be postmarked
or faxed no later than November 30th to:

Who will decide the recipient of this
award?
The NCMSA Awards
Committee will select the recipient from the nominations received this
year.
When will the award
be announced?
Winners will be notified by mid-January. One Team to Watch from
each of the three NCMSA regions will be recognized at
a general session of the North Carolina Middle School Association Annual
Conference. Up to five members of the winning teaching team will receive complementary registration
for the NCMSA state conference.
