About NCMSA
What is our Purpose?
The purpose of the Association is to foster excellence in
education for emerging adolescents. Our membership includes elementary,
intermediate, junior high, and middle schools representing 22
different grade configurations. Our organization focuses on developing
unique and transitional programs for young adolescents rather
than on grade configurations of individual schools.
What do we Believe?
We believe that young adolescents are undergoing unique intellectual,
physical, social and emotional changes which affect schooling.
Consequently, we have committed ourselves to the task of better
understanding these needs, sharing knowledge with our membership,
and drawing upon the vast experience of middle level educators
in North Carolina in assisting us in developing workable organizational
programs to bring about successful schools. We are committed
to serve as an advocacy group to recognize the middle level as
a legitimate third level of education as it relates to state
licensure, teacher training, and school organization.
