NORTH CAROLINA MIDDLE SCHOOL ASSOCIATION
2010 NCMSA BOARD NOMINATION

Get involved with the North Carolina Middle School Association by running for one of the five board positions that will be open in 2010. Nominations are due by November 30, 2009. Call the NCMSA office at (910) 235-3761 or e-mail us at info@ncmsa.net for more information.

The following positions will be up for election by the membership:

• Teacher Representative
• Regional Directors for Region 1 (Northeast), Region 4 (Sandhills), and Region 7 (Northwest).

All positions are for three (3) year terms.

Regional Director: A Regional Director is elected by NCMSA members from that region on a 3-year rotation. The Regional Director serves on the Board, and has privileges of voting and decision making for the benefit of NCMSA and its membership. The Regional Director's role is to act as a liaison between the regional membership and the NCMSA; to develop regional activities and resources; and may also serve on a general committee as appointed by the current President.

Teacher Representatives: This representative is elected at-large. All members of NCMSA may vote for this positions. The representative will represent his or her respective constituents as a member of the board, attend all board meetings or if unable to do so, send a report, serve on a conference planning committee, facilitate a job-alike session at the annual conference and serve as the liaison to other organizations at the request of the President.
All elected Board members receive state travel and per diem expenses for Association Board meetings and conferences plus paid conference registration. Regional Directors are reimbursed for state travel and per diem expenses for Regional activities. Substitute teacher stipends are paid. Each regional director also has a working budget for regional activities.

Please attach a half-page, brief outline of candidate's qualifications that includes middle level education experience, leadership, any involvement with the Association, and goal(s) the candidate has for NCMSA. In addition, please e-mail a photo of the candidate to us at info@ncmsa.net. The candidate's qualifications and photo will be used to develop the ballot for the January election.
