Differentiated Instruction & Assessment Strategies for the
21st Century Classroom
Have you ever taught a unit and thought everyone knew
the material—only to find when grading the test that they didn’t know it after
all? This workshop will focus on
proven strategies for differentiating instruction and in a high-performing
classroom to ensure that students are learning. We will also
focus on formative and summative assessment strategies that will help you know
what your students have learned… and what they haven’t yet
mastered.
Math Strategies that Help Students “Get
It”
Looking for ways to raise your math scores? This
workshop will help. We will focus on specific strategies that will help middle
school students’ comprehension of mathematics concepts. We will offer practical ideas on how to
help your students become more mathematically literate.
Schools to Watch Training
Learn about the Schools to Watch criteria and how focusing on academic excellence, developmental responsiveness, and social equity will help you have a higher-performing school. This workshop will introduce you to the criteria and prepare you to use them as a road map for making your classroom, school, or district even more successful.
Visualize That
Question: Helping Students with EOG Multiple Choice Questions
Melba Johnson, highly regarded
author and presenter, will introduce teachers to visual strategies that assist
students in answering multiple choice questions. This session will employ
examples from the EOG to provide participants a clear understanding of these
techniques. Utilizing graphic organizers/Thinking Maps®, participants will
engage in tactile activities designed to associate these visuals with the
thought processes (i.e., cause/effect, comparison/contrast, defining in context,
seeing relationships, and sequencing) in multiple choice questions. These
strategies will assist students in identifying key words in the multiple-choice
questions and analyzing answer options.
